SPIN! Opens Second Southern California Location in Los Alamitos

KANSAS CITY, MO (Jan. 21, 2014) – SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza, honored with numerous awards for its food and concept, is opening its second Southern California location on January 21 in Los Alamitos. Named one of the “Rest of the 101 Best Restaurants” in the nation by top foodie website TheDailyMeal.com and a “Breakout Brand” in 2013 by Nation’s Restaurant News, SPIN!® also has six locations in Missouri and Kansas.

The new Los Alamitos SPIN!, 11122 Los Alamitos Blvd., is being opened by SPIN!’s first franchisee, Hofman Hospitality Group (HHG),  which also owns 18 Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que locations in California, Arizona and Nevada, and four Hof’s Hut restaurants in Southern California. HHG plans to open a total of 37 SPIN! restaurants in Southern California during the next 5 to 10 years including a location in Huntington Beach this spring.

San Francisco Bay Area franchisee Parker Hospitality Group has an agreement to open five restaurants in 7 years in San Mateo County with an option to open another five in Santa Clara County.

With recipes developed in collaboration with James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Smith, SPIN!’s Margherita Pizza was crowned one of the nation’s best dishes of the year by a trade magazine, and its architecture won Best of Show at the Mid America Design Awards. Ranked number one by Zagat among Kansas City pizza restaurants, SPIN! has been awarded “best pizza” by numerous publications in its hometown of Greater Kansas City, where it also was honored for the city’s best gluten-free menu.

SPIN! Opens Sixth Location in its Home Market

KANSAS CITY, MO (Nov. 4, 2013) Award-winning SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza has opened a sixth location in its Greater Kansas City home market. Known for its artisan food made from fresh ingredients without the gourmet price and its eclectic, affordable premium wines, SPIN! also has franchises in Southern California and the San Francisco Bay Area.

The new 4,000 square foot restaurant, located at 8224 Mission Road in Prairie Village’s Corinth Square Shopping Center, seats 110 guests inside and 48 on a heated patio. The patio design takes full advantage of the center’s new waterscaping and unique overhangs for comfortable outdoor dining. Two bike racks make it convenient for cyclists to park their bikes.

SPIN!’s new restaurant will feel familiar to those who have visited other SPIN! locations. Both the design of the restaurant and the menu are the same. The store design was done by Tracy Stearns of 360 Architects and SPIN!’s menu was created in collaboration with James Beard Award winning chef Michael Smith.

SPIN! is known for its hand-spun, stone-fired authentic Neapolitan pizza and wide variety of fresh salads tossed with dressings created in-house daily. In addition to a diverse selection of traditional thin-and-bubbly crust, rustic whole wheat, and gluten-free pizzas, SPIN! offers other Michael Smith created appetizers, soups, salads, signature Panini and Italian deli sandwiches. Former Apple Retail CFO Joins SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza as Partner

KANSAS CITY, MO (Oct. 29, 2013) – Veteran finance and operating executive Michael W. Kramer has joined SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza as a partner. Kramer brings financial expertise and extensive experience in both the retail and restaurant industries to the growing “premium fast casual” concept.

Prior to joining SPIN!®, Kramer served as CFO of Apple Retail, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Einstein/Noah Bagel; CEO and President of Kellwood and, most recently, COO of JC Penney. Earlier in his career, he served in financial leadership roles for PepsiCo/Pizza Hut and Gateway. He was named 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year for Missouri by the Business and Advisory Council.

Kramer’s new position as an equity partner in SPIN! reunites him with the executives he helped to turn local bagel shops into a national concept. SPIN! founders Gail and Richard Lozoff and Edwin Brownell also developed Bagel & Bagel, which started in Kansas City, Mo. and became Einstein Bros. Bagels.

“I stayed in touch with Ed over the years and watched SPIN! evolve,” Kramer says. “Over the years, I have worked with some amazing creative and operational talent. I have to say, Ed and Gail are some of the very best in their respective areas. So, as I was thinking about investing in SPIN!, conversations turned to the possibility of me joining them operationally as well as from an ownership perspective. I love working with Gail and Ed and look forward to building SPIN! to the next level with them.”

In his position as a partner in SPIN! Concepts, Inc., Kramer, a Certified Public Accountant, will be responsible for financial operations and strategy including finance, supply chain, human resources, and franchise operations.

SPIN! currently has two franchisees. Hofman Hospitality Group plans to open 37 SPIN! restaurants throughout Southern California during the next 10 years. Parker Hospitality Group has an agreement to open five restaurants in 7 years in the San Francisco Bay Area’s San Mateo County with an option to open another five in Santa Clara County.

“I think SPIN! is a great candidate for national roll-out but we want to take our time and do it right. We are not going to rush the evolution of the brand,” Kramer says. “SPIN!’s California franchisees are experienced restaurateurs who share our commitment to quality of product and experience. Our plan is to find additional seasoned operators to franchise SPIN! in markets that we believe would be advantageous for local ownership.”

SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza’s Second Franchise to be San Francisco Bay

Parker Hospitality Group to Open Award-Winning Concept in San Mateo County

Kansas City, MO (August 13, 2013) – SPIN!  Neapolitan Pizza has completed an agreement with the Parker Hospitality Group to develop SPIN!® restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is the second franchise agreement for SPIN!, whose first franchise location recently was opened in Southern California by Hofman Hospitality Group (HHG). Parker Hospitality Group is headed by restaurant operator Jeffrey P. Parker.

New franchisee Parker, who has signed an agreement to open five restaurants in 7 years in San Mateo County with an option to open another five in Santa Clara County, is familiar with SPIN! through his friendship with HHG’s Senior Partner Brad Hofman. The two were classmates at Cornell University, where they earned degrees in Hotel and Restaurant Administration.

“I've been following SPIN! for over two years and think that the concept and menu will be really well received in the Bay Area,” Parker says. “Plus, I've worked closely with the SPIN! teams over the past few months, both in the restaurants in Kansas City as well as the new location in Orange, Calif.  We are all very much on the same page when it comes to operations, branding and culture.”

Parker worked for Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, Starbucks, and is part owner of the Toaster Oven sandwich shop chain which operates four locations in San Francisco.
