SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza Open in Corbin Park

KANSAS CITY, MO (May 4, 2014) Honored with numerous awards for its food and concept, locally owned and operated SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza’s just-built location in South Overland Park’s Corbin Park Retail Village is now open. The General Manager of the new location, Molly McClure, began as a server 10 years ago when the first SPIN! ® opened further north in Overland Park.

The Corbin Park restaurant is the eighth metro area location for the locally owned and operated pizzeria known for its exceptional, artisan food made from fresh ingredients without the gourmet price and distinct, inviting atmosphere that appeals to all ages.

The newest SPIN! Pizza is located at 6510 W. 135th St., directly across from the almost-completed Scheels All Sports. With 3,800 square feet, the restaurant has seating for 122 in the dining room, another 10 seats at the bar, and space for 40 on its outdoor patio.

“In 2005, when we opened our first location on 119th Street in Overland Park, SPIN! was one of the nation’s first Neapolitan-style pizzerias,” says Ed Brownell, a Partner in SPIN! Pizza. “We are excited to open a second location in Overland Park serving the booming residential and commercial development that’s taken place to the south of our original location. And it’s a special thrill that the General Manager has been with us since we opened the doors of our first location.”

McClure was an 18-year-old senior at Blue Valley North High School, with an eye on a culinary career, when she began as a server/cashier at SPIN! Pizza. At 22, she was promoted to a salaried management position before being named a general manger two years ago. This is the first time she will open a new location. McClure says that she loves working at SPIN! because the employees are like family and the award-winning food is freshly made on site. “SPIN! is great because it’s a scratch kitchen. It’s not like a big corporate where everything comes prepared for you and you just put things together. It’s neat to be somewhere you can actually cook,” she says.

SPIN!’s recipes are developed in collaboration with James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Smith, who also was just named national Chef Innovator of the Year. In addition to a diverse selection of traditional thin-and-bubbly crust, rustic whole wheat, and gluten-free pizzas, SPIN! serves a tremendous selection of fresh salads topped with made-from-scratch dressings, homemade soups, signature Panini and Italian deli sandwiches, appetizers, small plates, and all-natural gelato ice creams.

KC’S SPIN! PIZZA FINALLY HEADING TO NORTHLAND

KANSAS CITY, MO (April 1, 2015) – Finally! After years of being asked when Kansas City’s SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza would open a Northland location, the answer is later this year. SPIN!®, honored with numerous awards for its food and concept, will open its first location north of the river in the Burlington Creek Shopping Center site formerly occupied by All Star Pizza & Pub.

“We want those who have been asking us to come up north to know that we heard you. It took us longer than we wanted but we have finally found the perfect location,” says Ed Brownell, a partner in SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza. “The Northland is booming with exciting enterprise and communities and we’re excited be part of it.”

Founded in Overland Park in 2005, SPIN! was one of the nation’s first Neapolitan-style pizza restaurants. The Northland location will be the locally owned and operated pizzeria’s tenth area location. The 3,862 square-foot location on N.W. 64th Street, just west of I-29, will feature indoor seating for 120, including 15 seats at the bar, and a patio that seats 40.

Boles is the Chairman of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce and sits on the boards of CrimeStoppers of Topeka and VisionBank. A managing partner of Schendel Lawn and Landscape, and former owner of Schendel Pest Services, Boles also is involved in commercial real estate and corporate training. He studied Communications at Washburn University.

Butch Eaton is a principal of Midwest Health, a regional senior living company which serves more than 2,000 seniors in the Midwest. He is a past president of the Kansas Health Care Association and holds a business degree from Washburn University.

Fellow Washburn alumnus Jim Klausman is President/CEO of Midwest Health. He serves on the Washburn University Board of Regents, the St. Francis Health Center Board of Directors, and the Junior Achievement of Kansas Board of Directors. He is past president of the Kansas Health Care Association and former Chairman of the Topeka Chamber of Chamber Commerce.

Greg Schwerdt is president of Schwerdt Design Group, an architectural, interior design, and planning firm headquartered in Topeka. He is chairman of the St. Francis Health Center Board of Directors, past Chairman of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves on the Chamber’s board as well as the board of the Archdiocesan Commission on Schools. Schwerdt is a graduate of the University of Kansas, holding degrees in Environmental Design and Architecture.

SPIN! Pizza on Main St. Closing for Two Weeks, Reopening with Exciting New Features

Becoming One of City’s First Restaurants to Offer Barrel Wines

Kansas City, Mo (Dec. 22, 2014) – SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza will close its midtown location for two weeks beginning Jan. 5 and re-open Jan. 16 with a facelift that adds some artsy new interior features and introduces guests to one of the city’s first selections of barrel wines.

SPIN!’s 4950 Main Street location will be one of the first restaurants in the area to offer barrel wines. Four higher end red and white premium wines will be featured. “Barrel wines are on the forefront of wine trends,” says SPIN! Partner Gail Lozoff. “The technology allows us to bring more premium wines by the glass to our guests.”

New pour sizes are already available. In addition to a full carafe, SPIN! will offer 9 oz. wines served in an Italian glass jelly jar that you can pour at your leisure for only $2 more than the 7 ounce size.

SPIN!® also will continue to offer an eclectic rotating roster of affordable premium bottle wines and craft beers and increase the number of craft beer taps.

The changes in the wine and beer service and presentations are just the beginning. The pizzeria, which opened in 2009, also will get an exciting new look.

The bike-friendly concept will bring more imagery of cyclists into the interior with a huge mirror printed with a scene of bicyclists wearing SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza biking jerseys on the back wall of the dining area, designed by 360 Architects. More biking photos will be displayed on the walls. A dark wood floor will be installed.

A vestibule will be built at the rear entrance to keep extreme heat and cold from entering the restaurant. The kitchen will be updated with new cabinets and equipment. And the barrel wine system will be installed.

Main Street’s staff will work at SPIN! Pizza’s five other area locations during the two weeks the midtown location will be closed for renovation. Those locations include 6541 W. 119th St. in Overland Park, 14230 W. 119th St. in Olathe, 9474 Renner Blvd. in Lenexa, and 8224 Mission Rd. in Prairie Village and 1808 N.W. Chipman Rd. in Lee’s Summit.

SPIN!’s pizzerias are open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
